Photo Manipulations
There's a list in my Notes app that I add to whenever an idea pops into my head. Sometimes it's a visual pun, sometimes it's social commentary, and sometimes it's simply something I want to see if I can create. As a logo designer with a full-time job, I can't always find the time to dedicate to my other passion. Somehow, I make it happen.
What I love most about photo manipulation is that I can make anything I want come to life, as long as I have patience. Most of the time, what ends up happening is I can't find the right image to communicate exactly what I want to say. Eventually, I end up changing the idea as I work, and I usually end up with something completely different that I still love.
Seeing finished products without any context is boring. We appreciate things a lot more when we know the story behind it. Above, you can see all the source images I used to create the picture at the cemetery. The whole idea came to me in a tweet.
There's something incredibly Hip Hop about photo manipulations that I absolutely love. The same way a DJ/producer samples great art before him, I search the internet for all the ingredients to make my designs. Above, I turned my wife into a mermaid. You can watch the making of this piece, as well as other pieces, on my Youtube channel.
I hope I never run out of wacky ideas that move me enough to make them come to life. I hope I always find time to express myself as freely as I am able to with these pieces. Most of all, I'd love to be able to make a living doing exactly what I love.
In the fall of 2017, the Jigsaw movie was released. Watch as I transform myself into the titular character.
