How Will the Designer Know My Vision?

There’s a surge of excitement that comes with the possibility of having your concepts come to life. Something that can damper that excitement is resistance. That resistance comes in the form of fear; the fear that the designer won’t execute your idea the way you see it in your mind.

No worries. My design process ensures that your voice is heard and your vision is seen.

Before designing anything, I sit down with you and define the project:

What's being made? Who needs to see it? How will it look?

Stylescape for Virtual Assistant. One direction is military-heavy, per the client’s input. The other is purposely generic.

In the end, I'm left with a lot of words.

What is meant when you say "luxury?"
What shade of blue do you have in mind?

My idea of "make it pop" is different from yours, etc.

Stylescapes help us set the direction, from the very beginning, to make sure we're all on the same page.

What will an ad look like?
How does typography work?
Will the logo be playful or elegant?

These are some of the visual problems that get presented so that you can get a feel for what you like and what you don't like.

One of the stylescapes created for OMG Cannabis Co., a dispensary in Portland, Maine.

Stylescapes can look different depending on the project. Some elements that may be explored, but don't always need to be included are:

Intended User - Who's your target audience? What do they care about?
Applications - How would business cards look? What about a billboard?
Typography - How much contrast between titles, subheaders & body copy?
Color Palette - Monochromatic, Complementary or Analogous?
Photography - What treatments, if any, are applied to pictures?
Iconography - Are IG Story Highlight covers consistent with website nav?
Patterns - Can we take advantage of texture or elements for repetition?

Stylescapes created for FLOSSY., an editorial platform for women, 24-35 yrs looking for honest conversations on popular topics, health & wellness, fitness and style.

I create 3 options, so you get an idea of the possibilities, and we agree on a direction.

Now that we know, more or less, where we're going, it's more likely that we'll get there. With a visual roadmap to guide me, I can design and develop something that more closely aligns with your vision.

Brand Identity for Lifted, inspired heavily by the visual direction of the chosen stylescape.
